Engagement Party of alcohol joy

Good lord it was a drunken affair...

Rugby match with (thank god) a Welsh win whilst 3 of the bridesmaid attempt a mad dash to decorate the venue, buy outfits and dance around the kitchen to 90s classics and Beyonce whilst baking
Meet and greets and hellos and small talk and deep talk and alcohol
Hammered parents and the classic Bambi drunken flopping
Balloons with a questionable condom look
Flowers in tea pots
The best cupcakes ever. Fact. Thank you Mr Watts Jones
Bacchus magic with a peaches remix and dirty alcohol, copious amounts of slipping over in mammoth heels by The Ju and Taylor
Throwing up in wicker baskets by Dilley
The worst hangover known to man for Taylor
Drinks by the river at sunset to wash away the haze
unforgettable entertainment all round.
And that was just the engagement party! God help us all!

Vintage Wedding fair

Fate would have it that the first bride party outing was in Surbiton to a Vintage Wedding Fair.

Sarah, Heather, Emma and Vix trekked to the venue on a girly adventure following a glass on bloody marys to calm the hangover and ease us into the ultimate girly outing.

On entering the fair and enthusiastically singling out the bride to be for the attentions of the lovely wedding fair folk, the foursome stumbled up the stairs to take in a room of lace underwear, or so Tom seemed to assume would be the case!

A failed attempt to take the first room seriously, with its wall to wall vintage dresses, the giggling group got over the surreal situation and got on with looking at pretty, and pretty expensive, things. All too soon was our enthusiasm tested by an energetic lady in a peacock fascinator keen to sell her alternative hen do ideas through doom and gloom over the stress of being a bridesmaid. With a huge boost in confidence, we quickly left her deflating presence and continued on to a wedding dress stall to force the bride to be into a small selection of questionable classics!

The tour of the fair concluded with a chance to sit in a beauty of an automobile in the carpark! A 1949classic in wedding cream.

The task complete and with Sarah's arm's strength being tested by the sheer volume of business cards and fliers, team Wedding fair went off to recover through an afternoon of scrabble in The Lamb. Girlyness complete.

Hen party planning

2 "old"maids wile away the morning searching hen do ideas online. Unsurprisingly few manor houses for holiday lets will cater for 20+ ladies and the butler and beautiful abode idea goes out the window. Plan 2 takes . affect and hours of trawling the web dig up the queen of glamping sites: jolly's in Yorkshire. But, alas, it's not meant to be- a phone call reveals that yes, they do take hen dos, yes, they can cater for us and yes, you can have a hog roast. No problem. There are a few camp site rules though... No noise after 11.

Fail.

The search continues but a theme is set. Later on the 1st of Feb, the happy couple return from Wales after a visit to the castle that is going to house the most epic of days. Saturday's are out of the question for this picturesque art centre so one Friday in June '13, the UK will sink slightly in the West as it is invaded by a large amount of Englishman eager to wish the happy couple well.

Engagement Party Invites

Invitation Deliberation

Picture the scene: Woody's bar, Kingston, 21 Jan 2012: Vix, Julia and Sarah are sat around discussing invitations to the Engagement Party. 3 Savannahs with a slice of lemon and 3 slightly stupid girls/'adults'. Julia makes the suggestion to just do a facebook invite if needing to save money/time...

Vix: "You can't do that, you'll have to have paper invites for the adults."

 ...

Sarah: "...We are adults."

Welcome!

Hello all,

Here be a secret blog in which we can record the process of organising and planning the Watts-Jones wedding from their friends and family's points of view - all the mini bits of comedy and drama that they may not have realised took place!

The final goal is that this will be made into a book to give to them on the day, documenting the process for them so they can look back on all the decision-making and what their wellwishers were up to...

Any time you have a conversation or participate in something that you feel needs documenting, leave a note/post so that we can build up a full portfolio of general excited flailing: silly conversations, suit alterations, flower smelling etc! And don't forget pictures too!
